Look closer than you think!

Photo Lunch 1 - 26th October 2008

If you're wondering where I was last Sunday afternoon, now you know. I was with a team of chicks, who are dedicated to changing the face of fashion.... This is our first test, made from a big pile of nothing (thanks for the Christmas decorations mum!), but the result - pointing the way forward. If this is the preview, then hold on tight for the real thing!! Project 1 - To hosts dinners, and make over our guests. Strictly by invitation only. Do you really want to?

Do you love your life? Are you ready to do more? Do you think you can be more? Does an hour make a difference? Does it matter if it's now or later? Are you able to do what you need to do, without doing the things that you don't want to do? If you do the things you don't want to do in order to do things you do want to do, is that a good thing? A life is a difference. Your life matters, your talent will never be reproduced by some one else. Your vision cannot be percieved without you. What you have to give cannot be taken away. So what will you give? Will you give some or will you give all? Will you give first or will you give last? Take what you have been given and use it to give and give back. Your own creator is asking you to create...Lets look at other createurs and learn from their lives... the good, the bad and the ugly!

How do I look?

One of the reasons I wanted to create a blog is to bring people together. To multiple our inspiration, that we might be inspired and inspire each other. People always talk about connections and say, " It's all about who you know..." Well I figured I know you, and together we cover half the earth. So today here is the lowdown on some people I know who see things differently, they are photographers, their eyes are wide open. Their work inspires me, it inspires me to be more, to do more. These people are just like you and me... they have to work hard, they have to eat, but they decided to follow their dream. Will you follow yours? http://www.gutoseixas.com.br http://www.songedal.no/ http://www.david-lau.com/ http://roncontarsy.com/ http://www.davidmignon.com/

Back to life

So fashion is back, if you can really say that, or maybe more to the point I am back. My internet has been reconnected, so all I need to do is find the time to write. So let's do it, let's be inspired this season. In this midst of this economic depression, let's be lifted. Be inspired to think bigger. Fashion is more than a season. it's a lifetime, a lifetime of change...brought about by highs and lows. Waiting, watching, dreaming, developping, testing, working... no matter how you fill your everyday life, each step you take is one more step closer to your destiny. How do you choose to make it happen... Will you glide, will you dance, will you run...any or all of these, but promise me one thing. Don't go back, don't think about going back, whether rich or poor, broken or blessed, there is one thing we all have in common about the past... it's over... nothing doing, it's done. So breathe and let's do it. This is our time. Our time to create somet

Insipre ton Samedi!

“ Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision - message is a witness pointing to what's coming."

What next?!

So I was just dreaming about designing things while I was on the metro today - never throw away ideas that seem temporal, with a little discipline you can transform fleeting moments into eternal reality - when I started to get down to it, I was thinking about what makes a good design or what makes a design good. The eternal question what separates bad design from good? I hope one of the answers is "A sketch book" ! Ha ha good joke, but as foolish as you may think it, good research and a dash of divine inspiration is probably the best way to make your designs succeed... What do I mean? Let me explain: since fashion and design objects are applied art, I think that means they have to have a purpose, so let us assume that an object's purpose is to be bought and used. Therefore, whilst expressing creativity maybe our primary goal as a designer (as opposed to an artist), it's no good drawing away, if noone wants to be caught wearing your garments. It is equally important t

Spring into action!

So, today is Easter monday, I'm am home just relaxing, thinking about what I would do if I was gonna start designing a new collection today??!! So how would I start out designing a collection - honestly - I would grab some paper, or if I was really thinking about it a sketch book, and I would start writing, I would start writing all the thoughts that are already in my head: It's easter, spring is coming, sometimes it's sunny, some times it's raining, new flowers, new life, change, brightness, light, fun, floral.. and on on... Creating a collection is about finding inspiration and that can be done "quite easily" by starting off with word asociation, image association, how you see the things that inspire you, the details, the way of seeing things maybe noone else has picked up on. The next step would be to start flipping through some magazines (or image banks on the internet) to find some images and more ideas that correspand to the theme. So if I'm thinki

Design your future project information

“My Inspiration” Present a sketchbook/ visual diary/ journal which reflects the above title. Designers- successful ones- are confident in their own right and are strong individuals that are not frightened to present what they believe in. Using the template present images related to the following questions: Where do you like to be? What's you favourite time of day? What's your favourite colour? Who has great style? What CDs are driving your neighbours mad? What films do you always rent from the video store? Do you have any pets? Which books are on your bedside table? What were the last things you bought? What don't you leave home without? What scent do you wear? Do you have a motto or a mantra? Who makes you melt inside? This is not a project about drawing it is a project about designing and creating a new reality Design thinking is always linked to an improved future...There are no judgements in design thinking. This eliminates the fear of failure and encourages maximum in

Back to the Future

So here we go. This is the beginning of something big. I want to create a space where the things that we are holding in our hand and hearts, can be used for a greater purpose. Maybe you feel like you're not holding anything right now - maybe everything you have is on the inside of you - pick up pencil, a tape recorder, a notebook, pick up whatever it is you need, and make your vision plain. Write it, draw it, record it... "Write what you see... so that it can be read on the run, This vision-message is a witness pointing to what's coming. It aches for the coming - it can hardly wait And it doesn't lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It's on it's way. It will come right on time." Habakkuk 2:2 (The Message) Lets bring our inspiration, lets share our experiences and ideas. Lets work together to make something that will grow. Lets build something strong. Lets get ready to change the way we look, to change the way we see. Lets change the world... "Vain
